Cappellini was born in Carugo in 1946 and specializes in the production of design furnishings designed for elegant residential and contract settings. The Cappellini catalog is characterized by its heterogeneous style made up of furniture with more elegant lines, as well as more original and avant-garde proposals. And it is precisely the introduction of an offer with an alternative design that marks the company’s success: since the 1980s Giulio Cappellini has been collaborating with the big names of the time with the aim of experimenting with a completely new and free way of living.

Many of the proposals in the Cappellini catalog are design icons, exhibited in the most important museums such as the MoMa in New York and the Triennale in Milan. Among these is the famous Thinking Man’s Chair by Jasper Morrison, a tubular metal seat with sinuous and comfortable lines characterized by armrests with integrated cup holder. Tom Dixon signs another successful chair, the S-Chair, unique for its shape and for the manually woven swamp straw covering.
The armchair Knotted Chair by Marcel Wanders stands out for its visionary design: the structure of the seat is in carbon fiber surprisingly reproduces the macrame technique, an extraordinary piece of art now exhibited at the MoMa in New York, the V&A Museum in London and the Stedelijk Museum of Amsterdam.
